my cake *** mi torta

yesterday was the last day of my cake class.  this was my final project.  we learnt a few flowers, and i still think that my thing is simplicity.  i am not that into roses on cakes, but this little flowers scattered on the cake was more my style.

ayer fue el último día de la clase de decoración de tortas.  este es mi último proyecto.  aprendimos a hacer varias flores y todavía sigo pensando que lo mío el la simplicidad.  no me gustan mucho las rosas, pero estas florcitas, como desparramadas en la torta son más mi estilo.

i still have to practice {a lot}, but i like the process and finding my own decorating style. 

me falta (mucha) práctica, pero me gusta el proceso y me gusta ir buscando mi propio estilo de decoración.

when fiona comes home from school, we will have a piece together.  it has dulce de leche inside!

cuando fiona vuelva del cole, vamos a cortarla y comer juntas.  está rellena con dulce de leche!

we´ve had this little cabinet for a long time.  i don't even know where i got it, probably a garage sale.  it was so ugly it has been in the garage this whole time.  and this summer, while cleaning the garage i knew i had to make a decision, change it or get rid of it.  so i changed it.

hace mucho que tenemos este mueblecito.  ni me acuerdo donde lo compré, seguro que en algún garage sale.  era tan feo que vivió en el garage todo este tiempo.  pero este verano, cuando organizábamos el garage, tuve que tomar una decisión: lo cambio o lo regalo.  asique lo cambié.

i took that mesh out, painted it white and added some fabric to the doors, new handles and voilà!

le saqué ese "enrejado", lo pinté de blanco, le puse tela en las puertitas, manijas nuevas y voilá!

sorry for the background, it was too dark inside the house and i haven't found the perfect spot for it yet.

perdón por el fondo de la foto, pero estaba oscuro adentro de casa para sacarlas y todavía no encontré el lugar justo donde ponerlo.

the valentine's weekend *** el fin de semana de san valentín

it is so nice to get away sometimes.  we went to california this last weekend.  satuday to ikea (sorry, no photos, just shopping) and sunday to the rose bowl flea market, my version of heaven (at least when i didn't hear fiona complain saying that the place was "boring", can you believe that?) and then the beach (my favourite place in the world).  here are some photos, all taken with dave's phone, i think that camera is better than mine!

que lindo que es salir de la rutina a veces!.  este fin de semana nos fuimos a california.  el sábado a ikea (no tuvimos tiempo de sacar fotos, hay mucho que ver!) y el domingo nos fuimos a la feria de antigüedades más grande que vi en mi vida, el rose bowl flea market, para mi fue el paraíso (bueno, cuando no la escuchaba a fiona protestar que era un lugar "aburrido", lo podés creer?) y despues la playa (mi lugar favorito).  acá van algunas fotos, las sacó dave a todas con su teléfono, que me parece que es mejor cámara que la mía!

after i admired it, we went outside and dave lit it.

después que me la dió y la admiré por un rato, nos fuimos afuera para que dave le prenda fuego.

it was nice to see how it was transforming as it was burning.

fue lindo ver como se transformaba a medida que los fósforos se iban prendiendo.

ah, y también me regaló este anillo divino.  las puntas son más oscuras porque fueron quemadas con antorcha.  ves el hilo de la cuestión?

 

 i am always amazed at how dave thinks and comes up with things.  i love my husband.

siempre me sorprende como dave piensa y se le ocurren cosas originales.  como lo quiero.

 

 

happy valentine's day!!! *** felíz día de san valentín!!!

we had a wonderful valentine's weekend (i will post photos soon), but this happened today.  i wanted to surprise dave and i remembered a great idea from here.  so we got the balloons.

pasamos un fin de semana de san valentín divino (pronto pongo fotos), pero esto fue hoy.  lo quise sorprender a dave y me acordé de esta idea buenísima.  asique compramos los globos.

 

but we added our own little touch.  we wrote little notes to add to each balloon.

pero le pusimos nuestro propio toque.  escribimos notitas para poner en cada globo.

 

and when he got home, he noticed the big box at the door, he brought it inside.  he started opening it...

y cuando llegó a casa del trabajo, notó la caja enorme en la puerta, la entró.  empezó a abrirla...

a couple of little bags i made to wrap the things i have been selling at the tiny tree store. 

un par de bolsitas que hice para envolver las cosas que voy vendiendo en el negocio de tiny tree.

i used a rustic muslin, ribbon or cord, and i embroidered the little flowers.  hope the recepients enjoy them too.

usé una tela de algodón rústico, cinta o cordón y bordé las florcitas a mano.  espero que las que las reciban las disfruten tanto como lo que compraron.

her style *** su estilo

fiona before going to school this morning...sometimes she seems so little and sometimes so grown up to me.  i know time is flying and i can't help but want to keep her just like this for a long while...my little girl.

fiona antes de irse al cole esta mañana...a veces me parece que todavia es tan chiquita y a veces me parece que creció muchísimo.  se que el tiempo vuela y no puedo evitar querer que se quede asi...mi chiquita.

in this last pic she is posing in front of the "instalation" of her artwork in the living room.  i think dave did a great job putting it together.

en esta última foto está posando en frente de la "muestra" de su arte que tenemos en el living.  me encantó como la armó dave.

what's in my bag *** que llevo en la cartera

it must be one of the few times (especially since fiona was born) when my handbag looks somewhat organized, with no toys, paper, coins, etc all over the place.  so i had to document it.

esta es una de las únicas veces (sobre todo desde que nació fiona) que mi cartera está relativamente organizada, sin juguetes, papeles, monedas, etc, por todos lados.  asique lo tuve que documentar.

the bag is from forever21, super roomy and comfortable.  i have the cutest planner (with the bear face on it), my favourite pen, my wallet from liberty of london/target, watercolour pencils, moleskine, little foldable bag, tissues (very needed, especially in this cold weather), gum, and a little bag to hold make up, lotion, eye drops, etc. in general there is also a book in it too.

la cartera es de forever21, con mucho lugar y super cómoda.  en ella llevo la agenda más linda (con la carita de oso), mi lapicera preferida, mi billetera de liberty of london/target, lápices de acuarela, moleskine, una bolsa que se dobla y se hace muy chiquita. pañuelitos de papel (son necesarios en esta época de frios), chiclets, un bolsito con maquillaje, crema, gotas para los ojos, etc. en general también hay algún libro por ahi también.
