i made this little bag for a dear friend who loves to take polaroids. i find that i never know where to put them when i take polaroids because i am afraid they are going to get scratched or bent. i hope she finds it useful.

i realize that, like with so many other things, my relationship with change is full of contradictions. i crave it but at the same time, when it comes i feel uncomfortable. not that i haven't changed things in my life, for one, i moved to another country with another culture and language, pretty big change. at the same time, the plates and almost everything in my kitchen cabinets are in the same spot where i put them when we moved to this house, almost five years ago.
but now i feel change coming to me in a very organic {not forced} way and i like it. an outward expression of it is, i think, the desire to 're-decorate' the living room {and the whole house, to be honest}. I still feel the inspiration from my mother-in-law's visit, so i made all new pillows. next, the curtains.
mi relación con los cambios en general, como con muchas otras cosas, es contradictoria. sueño con cambios, pero cuando llegan, me pongo incómoda. esto no quiere decir que yo no haya producido cambios en mi vida, sin ir mas lejos, me mudé a un país con una cultura y un idioma distintos al mio, pero a la vez, los platos y casi todo lo que tengo en las alacenas de la cocina estan en exactamente el mismo lugar en los que los puse cuando nos mudamos a esta casa, hace casi cinco años.
pero ahora siento que el cambio viene de adentro y de una forma muy orgánica (nada forzada) y me gusta. supongo que una expresión de esto es querer modificar nuestro ambiente. estoy empezando con el living, sigo con el ímpetu creativo que me dejo mi suegra e hice todas la fundas nuevas para los almohadones. lo que sigue: las cortinas.
i have a very small budget, so i used some pillow forms i already had and i got some of the fabric at a discount home fabric store that i love.

the blue and pink pillow {from the big couch} are velvet and i added a very old coaster i found at an antique store a while ago to this one.

so, my mother in law was here for two weeks and she is super-creative, especially with home decor. she inspired me to change some things around my house. first stop, my beloved leather chair, we got it a few years ago at a church garage sale for $25 and the cushion was starting to rip. here is a photo that really doesn't show the before, but you get the idea, right?
mi suegra estuvo en casa por dos semanas y, como es super-creativa, sobre todo para las cosas de decoración, me inspiró para cambiear algunas cosas de mi casa. la primera: mi sillón de cuero al que amo. lo compramos hace unos años en una feria de cosas usadas en una iglesia y nos costó $25. ya el almohadón estaba que no daba más, se le había roto el cuero y se veía el relleno. acá va una foto que, en realidad, no muestra el antes pero vos te das una idea, no?
i covered the cushion with this fabric i fell in love with and found at a home decor fabric store for only $6.99 a yard!!! it is not perfect, but i am pretty happy with the result. now i want to do so many things around the house! there are not enough hours in the day for all the things i want to do!

it is finally up! i have been thinking about what to do with this wall for a while now. we painted a few frames {only two made it, as you can see} and filled them with photos and other things. the idea is for it to be a family 'curated' display that we can change whenever we feel like it. if i bring some of fiona's artwork from school and we want to display it, there it will go, for example. what do you think? what do you have on your walls? more photos here.
por fin está listo!! me llevó bastante tiempo decidir que poner en esta pared del living. al final, pintamos varios marcos (pero solo usamos dos, como podés ver) y los llenamos de fotos y otras cosas que nos gustan. la idea es que esto sea una "muestra curada" por nosotros y que cambie cuando se nos ocurra. por ejempo: si traigo una pintura de fiona del cole que quiero ver seguido, la pongo. si despues se nos ocurre otra cosa, se cambia. qué te parece? qué te gusta poner en tus paredes? mas fotos acá.

And this is a wip that may not happen. I am not crazy about the way I constructed the stockings {that happens when you are in a hurry}, so I don't know if I am going to use one of my favourite vintage ribbons on them. It was a challenge to sew velvet, there is fuzz all over the house!

Hola! que semana mas movida! Movida y estresante. Y...me estoy tratando de amigar con mis rulos de nuevo=}. Pero ya esta pasando todo, lo se. Cuando miro esta foto me acuerdo de respirar, de volver al presente, no se porque. Por eso la puse.

to go to the farmer's market on Wednesdays, to buy fresh vegetables and fruits, to cook for my family {almost} every night, to hear Fiona and Dave's voices while I am cooking, when Dave tries the food and tells me "this is great, babe" {even if it is the millionth time I cooked it, he always appreciates it, truly the light of my life}.
