what a week!  a roller coaster of emotions that i have a hard time talking about now.  and again, bringing myself back to creating.  this is my moleskine.  the goal is to create every day, a photo, a drawing, a collage, a word...even if i only have two minutes for it.  i think i will show some pages here once a week.
don't know how it is going to work out when i start the program from this book.  has anyone done it?

ay, que semana llena de emociones tan fuertes que me sacudieron hasta el alma.  todavia se me hace dificil hablar del tema.  otra vez a crear, a creer.  este es mi moleskine, el objetivo es hacer algo creativo todos los dias, una foto, un collage, un dibujo, una palabra...aunque tenga solo un minuto para hacerlo.  creo que voy a mostrar alguanas paginas completas una vez por semana aca. 
no se que va a pasar cuando empiece el programa de este libro.  alguien lo hizo ya?
te deseo un dia lleno de paz.

modern leaves/hojas modernas

I was experimenting/playing again.  This time embroidering on a leaf, it was a very satisfying experiment.  And while I was at it a couple of things occurred to me:  1)  I have been using leaves in one way or another while creating and 2)  human beings used to wear leaves as clothes {or so it is believed} and I am embroidering "modern leaves" on one.
I only brought two of these leaves from our vacation in Florida with me, I love them and they are a great surface for embroidering.  I don't even know the name, they were all over the ground.  So, if you live in that area or you know the name of the plant/tree would you tell me?  I would love to get more.

Estuve experimentando de nuevo.  Esta vez borde en una hoja, fue un experimento que me encanto.  Y mientras que lo hacia, se me ocurrieron dos cosas:  1)  ultimamente vengo usando hojas en casi todas mis creaciones y, 2)  los seres humanos usaban hojas como ropa hace mucho tiempo {o eso se piensa} y yo ahora estoy bordando las "hojas" que usamos actualmente sobre una.
Solo traje dos de estas hojas conmigo de la Florida cuando fuimos de vacaciones.  Me encantan y son una superficie buenisima para bordar.  Ni siquiera se el nombre, pero estaban por todos lados.  Si vivis por ahi o sabes el nombre de la planta/arbol, me lo podes decir?  me encantaria poder conseguir mas.
Que puedas encontrar creatividad y alegria en todo lo que haces esta semana!

back in the mood/de vuelta

I am back!  sorry for the long time between posts, I felt like I needed a break from posting but I didn't realize it until after the last post.  It has been a quiet week craft wise, but in my head there are lots of plans and projects. 
Saturday Dave and I went to the movies for the second time since Fiona was born {thanks to a wonderful friend who babysat her}.  We saw The Namesake, what a beautiful movie!  I could relate to it in so many ways. It made me think of what it means to be an immigrant and of Fiona, being from two different cultures, and how she is going to perceive that when she grows up.
Here are a couple of moodboards for this week and a photo of my two loves during a short trip we took last week.

Aca estoy!  perdon por el tiempo largo que paso desde la ultima vez que publique, pero senti que necesitaba un descanso y no me di cuenta hasta despues del ultimo post.  La verdad es que fue una semana bastante tranquila con respecto a las manualidades, pero mi cabeza esta llena de planes y proyectos.
El sabado Dave y yo fuimos al cine por segunda vez desde que nacio Fiona, gracias a una amiga que se quedo en casa cuidandola.  Vimos la pelicula The Namesake {no se si la estan pasando en los paises de habla hispana}, que pelicula tan linda!  Me conmovio por muchos motivos, me hizo pensar en lo que es ser inmigrante y tambien me hizo pensar en Fiona, que de alguna manera viene de dos culturas distintas y me pregunto como lo va a precibir cuando crezca.
Aca van dos moodboards y una foto de mis amores durante un viajecito corto que hicimos la semana pasada.

what i like/lo que me gusta

A couple of little drawings/collages from my journal.
Lately I have been trying to really be a witness to what it is that calls my attention, gives me joy, makes me sigh.  Not what I am supposed to like, what is cool, what other people think I should appreciate.  Like in yoga, I am trying to let the thoughts go and bring the attention to whatever it is that I am looking at or hearing.  What a challenging thing!    Here are some things I discovered:
This photographer.  Her photographs are simple and beautiful and make me feel comfortable. {I love the stills the best}
This post, she always amazes me and is such an inspiration as a mother, crafter, person.
This photograph, it breaks my heart with its beauty and its sadness.

Estos son unos dibujitos/collages de mi cuaderno.
Ultimamente estoy tratando de observar que es lo que me llama la atencion, lo que me da alegria, lo que me inspira.  No lo que se supone que me tiene que gustar, lo que es 'cool', lo que otros piensan que es interesante.  Como en yoga, trato de no poner la atencion en la mente y realmente trato enfocarme lo que estoy mirando o escuchando.  Que dificil!  Aca van algunas cosas que descubri:
Esta fotografa.  Sus fotos son simples y estan llenas de belleza, me siento comoda al mirarlas.  {mis preferidas son las que estan en la categoria 'stills'}
Este post, ella siempre me inspira como madre, como pesona y con su creatividad.
Esta foto, me rompe el corazon con su belleza y con su tristeza.

Mood Board No.10

I am inspired by many things, nature, colours, texture, my supplies, etc.  The main inspiration when I look in my little closet are my fabrics.  If you have been reading this blog, you know that already.  This is my little collection of buttons, displayed in pretty paper tags.  They were all in one of the drawers of my work space and I had forgotten about some of them, so why not have them somewhere where they can be more appreciated?.  I haven't been lucky enough to find many vintage ones, so most of them are new. 
Thank you so much for all your comments on my last post.  It is amazing how if you stay open, your true self shows itself and there is no denying it.  It helps so much to have people around you who really 'see' you.  I am very fortunate to have that, you, my blog friends, are among those people. 

Me inspiran muchas cosas: la naturaleza, los colores, las texturas, los materiales que uso para crear, etc.  La mayor inspiracion, cuando miro en mi pequen~o closet, son las telas.  Si leiste este blog, ya lo sabras.  Esta es mi pequen~a coleccion de botones, los puse en tarjetitas de papel lindo.  Estaban todos en un cajon y hasta me habia olvidado de algunos.  Asique pense: porque no ponerlos en algun lugar donde puedan ser apreciados?  No he tenido mucha suerte de encontrar botones vintage, asique casi todos son nuevos.
Muchisimas gracias por sus comentarios sobre el post anterior.  Es increible como cuando estamos abiertos, nuestro yo verdadero aparece y no se puede negar.  Ayuda muchisimo tener gente alrededor que realmente te pueda 'ver'.  Yo soy muy afortunada porque tengo ese circulo de gente y ustedes, mis amigas/os del blog, estan entre ellos.

Mood Board No.9

I am back with a moodboard this week.  Things that I am liking now, buttons, wooden toys, old buildings, tote bags...a little bit of everything. 
We are planning a big trip and everything I have to do before it is a little overwhelming right now.  Does it ever happen to you that the task at hand is so big {at least in your mind it is} that instead of doing you become paralized?  Last night I started a project and that made things much better, it is amazing how creating something helps the soul.  Have a wonderful week, my friends!

Estoy de vuelta con un moodboard esta semana.  Cosas que me gustan: botones, juguetes de madera, edificios antiguos, bolsos basicos...de todo un poco. 
Estamos planeando un viaje largo y todo lo que tengo que hacer para prepararnos me parece un monton.  Te pasa a veces que lo que tenes que hacer es tanto {por lo menos en tu cabeza} que en vez de hacer te paralizas?  Anoche empece un proyecto y me hizo muy bien.  Es increible como crear algo ayuda al alma.

This week {and I hope every week} I am inspired by childhood and its treasures.  Always trying to see things with new eyes, as I see Fiona do. Everything is surprising and fascinating to her.
Tree houses, bikes, dolls are still among my favourite things.

Esta semana {y espero que todas las semanas} mi inspiracion viene de la nin~ez y sus tesoros.  Siempre trato de ver las cosas con una mirada nueva, como veo que hace Fiona.  Todo es una sorpresa para ella.

This week:  Fashion.  I am doing the same with my fashion magazines as with the home decor ones.  Some of these I would wear, some are inspirational for different projects and some I just like.
