Winter:  we went to the mountains this weekend so Fiona could see the snow for the first time.  She looooved it.  We will be escaping to these same mountains during the summer heat in the city as often as we can.

Invierno:  fuimos a las montan~as este fin de semana para que Fioni conozca la nieve.  Le encanto!  Durante el verano sofocante nos vamos a escapar a estas mismas montan~as todas las veces que podamos.

I am so glad we live close to such a beautiful place.

Que lindo que es poder vivir tan cerca de un lugar como este.

Spring:  a new flock is ready to fly to their new homes {all for trades and gifts}

Primavera:  una nueva bandada esta lista para volar a sus nidos {son todos para intercambios y regalos}

taking off in style/partida con estilo

I dream with:  a town, a city where I can feel at home, a house in which I would want to live forever {or at least for many, many years}, a vegetable garden, a flower garden, a studio where I could sew, paint and all the other things I want to do, nice neighbors with kids Fiona's age, a tight community, little stores where I could walk to and where I would know the owners {that work in them instead of employees}, friends that lead a creative life and that would inspire me to create {some of you are those friends}, the ocean close by...

But I also dream with:  traveling, living in different countries so we {and mostly Fiona} could learn from the different cultures, being free, the unexpected, only owning what fits in my suitcase, selling my creations to little stores that we find on our way, driving through Argentina...

Did I say I am full of contradictions?  Anyway, today is the last post of the inspiration month and I thought these were perfect for it. If/when I was to travel, I would not mind doing it in one of these:

Suen~o con:  una ciudad en la que me sienta muy comoda, una casa en la que quiera vivir toda la vida {o, por lo menos, por muchos, muchos an~os}, tener un jardin donde pueda plantar vegetales y frutas, tener otro jardin con flores que pueda cortar y poner en distintos floreros en toda la casa, un estudio donde pueda coser, pintar y todas las otras cosas que quiero hacer, vecinos simpaticos que tengan hijos de la edad de Fiona, una comunidad, negocios chiquitos a donde pueda ir caminando y conocer a todos los duen~os {que trabajan en ellos, en vez de empleados}, amigos que vivan una vida creativa y que me inspiren a crear {algunas de ustedes son esas amigas}, el mar cerca...

Pero tambien suen~o con:  viajar, vivir en distintos paises asi poder {sobre todo Fiona} aprender de las distintas culturas, ser libre, lo inesperado, solo ser duen~a de lo que entre en mi valija, vender las cosas que hago a los distintos pequen~os negocios que encontremos en el camino, hacer un viaje en casa rodante por toda la Argentina...

Dije que estoy llena de contradicciones, no?  Bueno, hoy es mi ultima entrada de este mes de inspiracion y me parecio que estas imagenes eran perfectas para el caso.  Si {o cuando} viaje, me encantaria hacerlo en alguno de estos:

uncles, argentinean money and thrift/tios, plata argentina y compras

Uncle:  Dave's brother visited us this past week.  We had fun!  Fiona was sooooo happy to have her uncle all to herself.

Tio:  el hermano de Dave nos vino a visitar la semana pasada.  Que divertido!  Fiona estaba taaaaan contenta de tener a su tio para ella sola!

Argentinean money:  Last week I received this book and I saw that in one of the first pages there were journals and one of them had an Argentinean bill on it.  At the same time, I received the anthtopologie catalog and found Argentinean money hanging on the wall.  What are the chances?!?
{btw, the book is just ok, nice pics but the projects not so much}

Plata argentina:  la semana pasada recibi este libro y vi que en una de las primeras paginas habia unos cuadernos y uno tenia un billete argentino pegado en la tapa.  Tambien recibi el catalogo de anthropologie la semana pasada y vi billetes argentinos pegados en la pared.  Que esta pasando?!?   Bueno, con lo devaluado que  estuvo siempre nuestro dinero, por lo menos sirve para algo lindo...no?
{con respecto al libro, yo no lo recomiendo, las fotos son lindas, pero los proyectos, no tanto}.



Thrift:  We found a music stand at a garage sale, it was love at first sight for me and Dave got it for $5!  Love the curves of the legs.
We also found the two bird houses, look at the tin roofs!

Thrift:  encontre este atril de musica en un garage sale, Dave negocio el precio y nos lo dieron por $5!  fue amor a primera vista para mi, me encantan las curvas de las patas y las rueditas. 
Tambien encontre estas casitas de pajaros, como me gustan los techos de lata que tienen!

And these boots, I don't know about them...I got them because they were $5 and they are leather, made in Italy and from the 80's, but they look a little cowboy boot to me and I am not a big fan of them....what do you think? I won't get offended if you say you hate them.

Y, por ultimo, estas botas...no se si me gustan.  Las compre porque salian $5, son de cuero, de fabricacion italiana y claramente de los 80.  Pero me parecen un poco botas de cowboy, que no son mi estilo... a vos que te parecen?  no me ofendo si me decis que te parecen horribles.

rain, music and freedom/lluvia, musica y libertad

It is raining today and we all have a cold.  I remember when I lived in Buenos Aires I wasn't fond of the rain.  But now I live in the desert, so I welcome it like an old friend every time it comes to visit.

Esta lloviendo y todos estamos resfriados.  Me acuerdo cuando vivia en Buenos Aires no me gustaba mucho la lluvia.  Pero ahora vivo en el desierto, asique la recibo como una amiga muy querida cada vez que viene a visitarme.

Another intention for the year:  be more free, of other people's expectations, of my own critic.  I want to dance more {dancing like crazy and without any rules helped me in moments when I was feeling I was going to loose my mind and drown in a pool of pain}.  Music and dancing {not necessarily together all the time} help me to feel freer.  I am in love this this song {melt your heart}.  Thank you for this little gift, love!

Otra de las cosas que me gustaria que pasen este an~o:  ser mas libre, libre de las expectativas de los otros y de mi propio critico interno.  Quiero bailar mas {bailar como loca y sin 'coreografia' me ayudo mucho durante un tiempo en mi vida en el que pense que realmente me iba a volver loca y ahogar en el dolor que sentia}.  La musica me ayuda a sentirme libre.  Estoy enamorada de esta cancion {melt your heart}.  Gracias por este regalito, amor!

slow/lento

So, it looks like 2008 is starting slow in posting and in creating.  But I have so many projects in my mind, I feel I am going to explode!  I want to make Fiona some clothes, I want to make many more things for the store, I want to experiment some more...  Creating {and dreaming about creating} is such a wonderful thing for me. 
But I realize that I need time for everything I do, I look at some friends and other bloggers and feel I am going at a snail pace.  But this year is the year in which my intention is to practice self awareness and self acceptance in a very serious way.  So, this is me, not a speedy being, and I am trying to be ok with it.

Parece que el 2008 empezo lento con el blog y la creatividad.  Pero tengo tantos proyectos que me parece que voy a explotar!  Quiero hacerle ropita a Fiona, quiero hacer muchas cosas mas para el negocio, quiero experimentar mas...crear {y son~ar con crear} es algo tan lindo. 
Me doy cuenta que soy una persona que necesita tiempo para todo lo que hago.  A veces veo a mis amigas y leo blogs de otras mamas y siento que voy a paso de tortuga con las cosas que hago.  Pero para este an~o mi intencion es tratar de observarme y poder aceptarme sin juzgarme.  Soy asi, una persona no muy veloz, y trato de estar bien con eso.

wishing for the holidays/mis deseos para las fiestas

We are going to be with family for the holidays, so I am signing off for a few days, but first I wanted to wish all of petunia's visitors the most wonderful holidays. 

Nos vamos a pasar las fiestas en familia, asique no voy a estar por aca por unos dias, pero primero queria desearles a todos los que visitan petunia unas muy, muy super-felices fiestas.

I made these with paper doilies, inspired by the cover of marie claire idees.

Hice estos adornos con carpetas de papel, encontre la inspiracion en la tapa de la revista marie claire idees.

And this is a wip that may not happen.  I am not crazy about the way I constructed the stockings {that happens when you are in a hurry}, so I don't know if I am going to use one of my favourite vintage ribbons on them.  It was a challenge to sew velvet, there is fuzz all over the house!

Y esto es un proyecto por terminar que muy probablemente no se termine.  No me gusta como cosi las botas {eso pasa cuando se hacen las cosas a las apuradas}, asique no se si usar una de mis cintas viejitas preferidas ellas.  Coser el terciopelo fue dificil y la casa esta llena de peluzas!

Though the combination of the velvet with the silver is really beautiful.  We'll see...

Getting the outfit ready, one of my favourite pieces of clothing is this skirt. The second photo is a detail of the ribbon work. Though it looks grey, it is black.

I am having fun crafting {hopefully} every night, getting ready for Fiona's second birthday.  I can't believe my little baby girl is turning two.  It is amazing that she was this little when I started the blog.
Next week will be cooking week, and many other preparations I imagine.

Estoy disfrutando de los preparativos para la fiesta de cumplean~os de Fiona.  Todas las noches {si el universo lo permite} esta semana voy a hacer algo con mis manos para el festejo.  No puedo creer que mi chiquita cumpla dos an~os.  Me da mucha ternura ver lo bebita que era cuando empece el blog.

Hi, my friends!  It has been a busy week, busy and nerve wrecking.  And...I am trying to become friends with my curly hair again =}. But things are slowing down, I know it.  I am posting this photo because it reminds me to breathe, to come back to the present, don't know why.

Hola!  que semana mas movida!  Movida y estresante.  Y...me estoy tratando de amigar con mis rulos de nuevo=}.  Pero ya esta pasando todo, lo se.   Cuando miro esta foto me acuerdo de respirar, de volver al presente, no se porque.  Por eso la puse.

to go to the farmer's market on Wednesdays, to buy fresh vegetables and fruits, to cook for my family {almost} every night, to hear Fiona and Dave's voices while I am cooking, when Dave tries the food and tells me "this is great, babe" {even if it is the millionth time I cooked it, he always appreciates it, truly the light of my life}.

ir a la feria los miercoles y comprar verduras y frutas frescas, cocinar para mi familia {casi} todas las noches, escuchar las voces de Fiona y Dave mientras cocino, cuando Dave prueba la comida y me dice "esto esta buenisimo, babe" {aunque sea la millonesima vez que hago el mismo plato, siempre me agradece, es realmente la luz de mi vida}.
