another dress/otro vestido

Hi!  This is a new dress I made for Fiona.  She is wearing it with tights and a long sleeve shirt because today is unusually cold.  I used the pattern number 4206 by Simplicity, but I lengthened the top so it became a dress. 
Hope you are having a nice day, I will be back soon, now off to keep playing with grandma.

Hola!  Este es un vestido que acabo de terminarle a Fiona.  Hoy lo uso con medias y remera de manga larga porque hace un poco de frio, cosa rara para mayo en estos pagos.  Use el patron numero 4206 de Simplicity, pero alargue la camisita porque me gustaba mas como vestido. 
Espero que estes pasando un dia muy lindo.  Vuelvo pronto, ahora me voy a seguir jugando con la abuela.

Did I say summer of skirts?  Well, I have to add: dresses, apparently.  This one is based on this pattern.  And, of course, the post comes full of photos of Fiona wearing it.  I have another one in the works, hopefully I will be able to show it soon.

Dije que este era el verano de las polleras/faldas?  Bueno, parece que tambien es el verano de los vestidos.  Para hacer este me base en este patron.  Y, por supuesto, este post viene cargado de fotos de Fiona, no podria ser de otra manera.  Ya estoy empezando otro...

the first of {hopefully} many/la primera de muchas por venir {eso espero}

I made a skirt for Fiona with no pattern, my first!  I used linen and cotton.  This was a prototype and there are a few things that I would like to improve, but I am pretty happy with it and I can't wait to make more.  This is the summer of skirts, I think.

Le hice esta pollera/falda a Fiona y, por primera vez, no use molde o patron.  Las telas son lino y algodon.  Esta fue para practicar y hay algunas cosas que me gustaria mejorar, pero estoy bastante conforme y no veo la hora de hacer mas!

And I can never choose one photo of her, so here go a few of my model.

Getting the outfit ready, one of my favourite pieces of clothing is this skirt. The second photo is a detail of the ribbon work. Though it looks grey, it is black.

Preparando la ropa, esta falda es una de mis preferidas.  La segunda foto muestra el detalle del trabajo con cintas.  Parece gris en esa foto, pero es negra.

So many things to be thankful for...it is good to have a day to remember that.

Tantas cosas por las que estar agradecida...es bueno tener por lo menos un dia para recordar eso que es tan importante.

modern leaves/hojas modernas

I was experimenting/playing again.  This time embroidering on a leaf, it was a very satisfying experiment.  And while I was at it a couple of things occurred to me:  1)  I have been using leaves in one way or another while creating and 2)  human beings used to wear leaves as clothes {or so it is believed} and I am embroidering "modern leaves" on one.
I only brought two of these leaves from our vacation in Florida with me, I love them and they are a great surface for embroidering.  I don't even know the name, they were all over the ground.  So, if you live in that area or you know the name of the plant/tree would you tell me?  I would love to get more.

Estuve experimentando de nuevo.  Esta vez borde en una hoja, fue un experimento que me encanto.  Y mientras que lo hacia, se me ocurrieron dos cosas:  1)  ultimamente vengo usando hojas en casi todas mis creaciones y, 2)  los seres humanos usaban hojas como ropa hace mucho tiempo {o eso se piensa} y yo ahora estoy bordando las "hojas" que usamos actualmente sobre una.
Solo traje dos de estas hojas conmigo de la Florida cuando fuimos de vacaciones.  Me encantan y son una superficie buenisima para bordar.  Ni siquiera se el nombre, pero estaban por todos lados.  Si vivis por ahi o sabes el nombre de la planta/arbol, me lo podes decir?  me encantaria poder conseguir mas.
