Spring is around the corner and though it is my favourite season, I know I am going to miss some things from winter.  Here is my list:  the rain {I live in the desert, so we don't see much rain during the very hot summer months}, naked trees, Fiona being two in the winter, laying on the couch covered with a blanket and watching Project Runway, wool socks, the excuse to stay inside, and coats...

La primavera ya llega y, aunque es mi estacion favorita, se que voy a extran~ar cosas del invierno.  Aca va mi lista:  la lluvia {yo vivo en el desierto, donde no llueve mucho durante los meses intensamente calurosos del verano}, los arboles desnudos, que Fionita tenga dos an~os en el invierno, recostarme en el sillon, tapada con una manta, mirando Project Runway, las medias de lana, la excusa para quedarme en casa y los abrigos...

What do you miss from winter?  {for my friends from the southern hemisphere, who have enjoyed summer for a while now, this must be easy to answer}.

moodboard:home

Thinking of home in all its meanings.  Here is a moodboard to inspire some re-decorating or just to dream.

Ultimamente estoy pensando en que significa 'hogar' {en todas sus acepciones} para mi.  Este es un moodboard para inspirar, ya sea un proyecto de decoracion o, solamente para son~ar.

I played with my little hello kitty sewing machine as you can see here.  The stitches are messy, but that was the way I wanted them.

Use mi maquinita de coser de hello kitty para lograr estas puntadas que no son perfectas para nada, pero asi las queria yo.

I hope today's holiday can remind us to be more loving and tolerant to one another.

Espero que esta fecha {el dia de san valentin} nos haga acordar de ser mas amorosos y tolerantes con los que nos rodean.

dreaming out loud/son~ando despierta

I am so thankful to my little family for 'donating' a corner of the dining room {with great light} and a corner of Fiona's room so I could have space to create.  But once in a while I think about how it would be to have my own studio, so when Holly of decor8 announced a contest in which you had to enter a moodboard about your dream room I was so excited!  I created this huge one, it is a little busy, I guess I am very excited about this space that I may have one day.
It is amazing how every time I work on a moodboard I feel like I explore more than the images and what I do with them, they bring questions about life - especially the ones about interiors - what I want from it, which direction I want to take, where I feel is home, do we want to see more, have more adventures before we settle down?

Le estoy tan agradecida a mi familia por 'donarme' un rincon del comedor {con mucha luz} y un rincon del cuarto de Fiona para que yo pueda crear.  Pero de vez en cuando me imagino teniendo mi propio taller, asique cuando Holly de decor8 anuncio un concurso en el que tenias que presentar un 'moodboard' sobre el cuarto de tus suen~os yo me puse re-contenta!  Hice este moodboard grandisimo, esta bastante lleno, supongo que es porque me entusiasma tanto la idea de este cuarto que algun dia tal vez tenga.
Es increible como cada vez que creo un 'moodboard' siento que exploro mas que las imagenes y lo que hago con ellas, me traen preguntas sobre la vida, que quiero de ella, en que direccion me quiero mover, que lugar es "mi lugar", queremos ver mas, tener mas aventuras antes de asentarnos en algun lado?

Wooden floors {click the photo to see that phone!}, fabric {of course}, vintage little sewing machines, lots of drawers {the older the better}, inspirations on the walls, paints and brushes, big windows, a fireplace and lots of candles.

Some metal furniture, double doors {is that the name?} -the ones that you can open the top or the bottom, i have always wanted one to those!, exposed brick, at least one yo-yo quilt.

Algunos muebles de metal, puertas dobles {no se bien como se llaman}, las que abris arriba o abajo, siempre quise una!, ladrillos a la vista y, por lo menos una colcha hecha de yo-yos.

My dream studio would always have plants, hot tea, books, cupcakes, flowers and a bicycle waiting outside the door, ready for an adventure.

Mi taller ideal siempre tendria plantas, te, libros, tortas, flores y una bicicleta al lado de la puerta, lista para cualquier aventura.

And, of course there has to be some room for my biggest inspiration, Fiona!  Some vintage toys, her craft supplies and anything else she would want there.  {In the ideal room she wouldn't find my supplies more appealing than her own.}

Y, por supuesto tiene que haber lugar para mi mayor inspiracion:  Fiona!  Con algunos juguetes vintage, sus elementos para crear y otras cosas que ella quiera.  {En mi cuarto ideal a ella no le llaman tanto la atencion mis cosas para crear como las de ella}

It is very important for me to have some room for the practice of yoga and meditation to keep me grounded and remind me to breath!

Es muy importante para mi tener un espacio para la practica del yoga y la meditacion, para mantenerme centrada y acordarme de respirar!

And there has to be an outside room {overlooking the ocean, if possible} to drink some tea, dream up new projects or take a little nap.

Y tiene que tener un cuarto al aire libre {con vista al mar, si es posible} para tomar el te, son~ar con nuevos proyectos o dormir una siestita.

back in the mood/de vuelta

I am back!  sorry for the long time between posts, I felt like I needed a break from posting but I didn't realize it until after the last post.  It has been a quiet week craft wise, but in my head there are lots of plans and projects. 
Saturday Dave and I went to the movies for the second time since Fiona was born {thanks to a wonderful friend who babysat her}.  We saw The Namesake, what a beautiful movie!  I could relate to it in so many ways. It made me think of what it means to be an immigrant and of Fiona, being from two different cultures, and how she is going to perceive that when she grows up.
Here are a couple of moodboards for this week and a photo of my two loves during a short trip we took last week.

Aca estoy!  perdon por el tiempo largo que paso desde la ultima vez que publique, pero senti que necesitaba un descanso y no me di cuenta hasta despues del ultimo post.  La verdad es que fue una semana bastante tranquila con respecto a las manualidades, pero mi cabeza esta llena de planes y proyectos.
El sabado Dave y yo fuimos al cine por segunda vez desde que nacio Fiona, gracias a una amiga que se quedo en casa cuidandola.  Vimos la pelicula The Namesake {no se si la estan pasando en los paises de habla hispana}, que pelicula tan linda!  Me conmovio por muchos motivos, me hizo pensar en lo que es ser inmigrante y tambien me hizo pensar en Fiona, que de alguna manera viene de dos culturas distintas y me pregunto como lo va a precibir cuando crezca.
Aca van dos moodboards y una foto de mis amores durante un viajecito corto que hicimos la semana pasada.

This is my moodboard/ode to Buenos Aires' design.  Most of these are tags from clothes we bought there.  I especially like the one on the second photo, it is from a children's clothing store called Cheeky, the one close to my mom's was decorated with all kinds of vintage toys, with one section full of vintage children's sewing machines, I was in heaven!

Este es mi moodboard/oda al disen~o de Buenos Aires.  La mayoria son etiquetas de ropa que compramos.  La que mas me gusta es la de la segunda foto, es de una casa de ropa para chicos que se llama Cheeky {si sos de Argentina, la debes conocer}, el negocio al que fuimos estaba todo decorado con juguetes antiguos y habia una seccion llena de maquinitas de coser, yo estaba en el paraiso!

And these are cards I made for some friends who I owe a swap or a thank you.  I hope they like them.  I have been very slow at answering emails, comments, blogs visits, etc.  Sorry!  I am trying to organize myself to do it faster.

the return of the moodboard/el regreso del moodboard

Yes, the moodboard is back!  I love mixing colours and patterns, and lately, the more mismatched the better.  Dave says that they go together because I chose them, that the link is me, I like that explanation.  This is part of my collection of papers, I have many.  Like fabric, paper is hard to resist for me.
I don't know if I am crazy about patchwork being a "trend in the making", according to Lucky magazine, but I really like that chair.

Si, volvio el moodboard!  Me encanta mezclar colores y estampados y ultimamente, me gusta que no peguen, que no combinen casi.  Dave dice que quedan bien juntos porque yo los elegi, que yo soy el nexo, me gusta esa explicacion.  Esta es una parte de mi coleccion de papeles, tengo muchos.  Como las telas, los papeles se me hacen irresistibles.
No se si me encanta el hecho de que la revista Lucky diga que el 'patchwork' es una "tendencia que viene", pero me encanta esa silla.

Spring is here!  How I love spring!  It affects me in such a good way, I can be outdoors more, the flowers...oh my!  Don't you like this pink-orange combo?  And those baby leaves, they appeared this week. 

Llego la primavera!  Como me gusta la primavera!  Me afecta tan positivamente, puedo estar mas tiempo afuera y las flores...ay las flores!  No te gusta esta combinacion de rosa y naranja?  Y esas hojitas bebe, aparecieron esta semana.

And the last photo is of my favourite flower, just woken up from a nap but posing for the camera.  When and how did she learn to pose?
