alone *** sola

so, dave and fiona went to miami for the weekend, it is the first time that i am away from fiona since the day she was born.  it was scary at first, but i decided to make the best of it.  on friday i went to a workshop at my favourite store, anthropologie.  the ideas were easy, but so beautiful!  just being there was inspiring and the display coordinator (she has the best job!) was so nice!  i did a little bit of shopping there, and this is what i got:

dave y fiona se fueron a miami por unos dias, esta es la primera vez que me separo de fiona desde que nació.  al principio fue muy extraño, pero tomé la decisión de pasarla lo mejor posible y aprovechar este tiempo para mi.  el viernes fuí a un workshop en mi negocio preferido, anthropologie.  las cosas que hicimos fueron muy fáciles pero tan lindas!  sólo estar ahi te inspira y la coordinadora de exhibición (creo que es algo así en castellano) es super-amorosa.  y después de recorrer el negocio con tiempo, despacio, mirando cada detalle, no pude resistir llevarme estas cositas de la foto:

after that i went to a couple of antique stores, didn't find mamy things, but these little birds came flying straight to my heart.  they are very old, japanese ornaments that have never been used since they still have the little tag on them.  aren't they so beautiful?

después me fuí a recorrer un par de negocios de antigüedades.  no encontré mucho, pero estos pajaritos me tocaron el corazón.  son adornos para el arbolito, muy viejitos, japoneses y parece que nunca los usaron ya que todavía tienen la etiqueta.  no son divinos?

 

it was a bit hard to give myself permission to enjoy this time without feeling guilty but i managed to do it most of the time.  some other things i did that i haven't done in ages are:  slept in till 10am, did an hour long yoga session at home, did a conditioner mask on my hair... ah, the little things!

me costó un poco darme permiso para disfrutar de este tiempo sola, sin sentirme culpable, pero creo que lo logré, al menos la mayoría del tiempo.  otras cosas que hice y que no había hecho en no me acuerdo cuanto tiempo:  dormí hasta las 10 de la mañana, hice yoga por una hora entera en el living de casa, me hice un baño de crema en el pelo...ah, las pequeñas cosas!

we went thrifting on friday, i always say it, but i will say it again, I LOVE THRIFTING!!!; i didn't find much, but the anticipation and just being there, looking through things, walking around...anyway, these are some of the things i found:

fuimos a la casa de antigüedades el viernes, se que siempre lo digo, pero lo voy a decir una vez más, ME ENCANTA IR EN BUSQUEDA DE TESOROS! no encontré mucho esta vez, pero el hecho de estar ahi, caminando entre tantas cosas lindas, con histrorias...bueno, estas son algunas de las cosas que encontré:

i don´t know how to call this (bread-tea box?), but i am in love with it!; i already put the bread, dave's and my teas and my mate.

no sé como se llama esto (caja para el pan-té?), pero me encanta!!; ya puse el pan, los tés de dave y mios y mi mate

this box, obviously hand painted and so beautiful!; i am in love with the colours.

y esta caja, pintada a mano, obviamente y tan linda!; me encantan los colores.

i made two more reversible skirts.  the house was quiet and i had a couple of hours for myself, it was heaven.

on thursday we went to a little town close to where we live and i found all these treasures:

sorry for disappearing like that, i had a pretty strong cold last week and then it was our seventh anniversary.  i can't believe it has been seven years of walking side by side, holding hands most of the way. 

perdón por desaparecer asi, pero tuve un resfrío fuerte la semana pasada y después llegó nuestro aniversario.  no puedo creer que ya hayamos caminado por la vida juntos durante siete años, la mayoría del tiempo tomados de la mano.

on friday we went to see an amazing show called LOVE.  dave took this pic before we went in the theatre.

el viernes fuimos a ver un espectáculo increíble llamado LOVE.  dave sacó esta foto antes de entrar al teatro.

this is the card i made for him, you can tell i had some problems at the end of the pink row and during the blue one, but he liked it anyway.

esta es la tarjeta que le hice, podés ver que tuve unos problemitas al final de la hilera rosa y en la azul, no?  pero a él le gustó igual.

mother's day *** el día de la madre

yesteday was mother's day and my little family again came with me to the antique stores (i said that is one of my most favourite things to do, right?), but before we ate pancakes (made by dave) and i got a couple of cool books as gifts.  here is fiona and the gift wrapped with her drawings and written by her!

ayer fue el día de la madre aca, asique con dave y fiona nos fuimos a las casas de antigüedades (yo ya dije que es una de mis cosas favoirtas, no?), pero primero comimos panqueques (preparados por dave) y me regalaron dos libros.  acá está fiona con su paquete, envuelto con un dibujo y escrito por ella!

and then we had a yummy lunch and visited anthropologie, there i got this book that i have been wanting for a long time.  i love it! (i will be sharing some pics later in the week)

y después almorzamos y fuimos a anthropologie, donde encontré este libro que hace mucho que quería.  me encanta!  (ya voy a compartir algunas fotos durante la semana)

and today fiona and her classmates celebrated mother's day at school (do you remember last year?), and we continue with the tradition of wearing matching outfits, a dress for fiona and a skirt for me made with this pretty linen i found.

y hoy fiona con sus compañeros celebraron el día de la madre en el colegio (te acordás del año pasado?) y seguimos con la tradición de usar vestimenta a juego, un vestido para fiona y una falda-pollera para mi, con un lino muy lindo que encontré hace un tiempo.

motherhood is so wonderful and so challenging at the same time.  and hopefully we learn a lot about ourselves and the world through our children as we raise them. i feel grateful.

ser madre es maravilloso y muy difícil al mismo tiempo. ojalá que todas podamos aprender cosas sobre nosotras mismas y el mundo a través de la mirada de nuestros hijos.  me siento tan agradecida.

transforming *** transformando

i saw this bottle at the thrift store and i had to get it, i love its colours and i love that it is handmade.  it is a tiny bit crooked, perfectly imperfect.

ví esta botella en el negocio de cosas usadas y no me pude resistir, me encantan los colores y que está hecha a mano, se nota porque es perfectamente imperfecta.

so i went to home depot and got a lamp kit, had the best 'handy man' (dave) put it together and voilà, a new lamp!

asique fuí a la ferretería, compré un kit para hacer lámparas, el mejor 'electricista' (dave) la armó y voilá, una lámpara nueva.

the bottle has a new life and we have a lamp that nobody else in the world has. 

la botella tiene vida nueva y nosotros tenemos una lámpara única, original.

my gift from dave for valentine's day:  a trip to the antique stores, the best kind of gift!  i found these cute crochet doilies, i feel it is the beginning of a new collection.

el regalo que me hizo dave para san valentín:  una tarde en las casas de antigüedades, el mejor regalo!  ahi encontré estas carpetitas al crochet, me parece que se viene una colección nueva.

no es linda?  la vi en el negocio de cosas usadas y no pude resistirme a sus encantos.  sería buenísimo tener más espacio para mi colección...
