WIP Friday/Proyectos por terminar

Hi!  I just wanted to show you what I'm up to.  Kitty no.2, hopefully I will finish her this weekend.  We are all having a great time, especially Fiona being spoiled by her grandma.  I haven't been able to visit blogs {I am having withdrawals} or thank you for your sweet comments, so I am doing it here.  It is so nice to read what you have to say about my posts.  Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

Hola!  Queria mostrarles lo que estoy haciendo, Kitty no.2, espero poder terminarla este fin de semana.  La estamos pasando muy bien, especialmente Fiona, porque la abuela le da todos los gustos.  Esta semana no he tenido tiempo de visitar blogs {estoy teniendo sindrome de abstinencia} o de agradecerles por las palabras tan dulces que dejan en los comentarios.  Es tan lindo leer lo que opinan de mis posts.  Que tengan un fin de semana lindisimo, mis amigas y amigos!

This week {and I hope every week} I am inspired by childhood and its treasures.  Always trying to see things with new eyes, as I see Fiona do. Everything is surprising and fascinating to her.
Tree houses, bikes, dolls are still among my favourite things.

Esta semana {y espero que todas las semanas} mi inspiracion viene de la nin~ez y sus tesoros.  Siempre trato de ver las cosas con una mirada nueva, como veo que hace Fiona.  Todo es una sorpresa para ella.
Las casitas en los arboles, las bicicletas y las mun~ecas eran y, todavia son, unas de mis cosas favoritas.

Unique dresses/Vestidos originales

I wanted to show you some dresses I find fascinating.  The fact that someone spends time and energy in making something so original is amazing to me.

Queria mostrarte unos vestidos que, para mi, son fascinantes.  Que alguien ponga tanto tiempo y energia para hacer algo tan original me alucina.

My mother in law is coming to visit for two weeks tomorrow.  I don't know if that will mean that I will have more crafting and organizing time {my closet is screaming at me} because she will look over Fiona or we will be out and about having fun all day...we'll see.  I hope I can post and show you something soon.

Mi suegra viene a visitarnos man~ana y se queda dos semanas.  Todavia no se si eso significa que voy a tener mas tiempo para hacer algo creativo y ordenar {mi closet me lo esta pidiendo a gritos}, ya que la va a cuidar a Fiona, o si vamos a estar todo el dia de aca para alla paseando...veremos.  Espero poder hacer algunos posts y mostrarte algo que hice pronto.

Inspiration/Inspiracion

I have this lovely book, it is called Odes to Opposites by Pablo Neruda.  It is beautifully bound and the illustrations are just gorgeous, pencil drawings, so simple and so great.  I wanted to show you some of them, maybe they will inspire you as they do me.  Of course, the poetry, to me is the most beautiful, Neruda is my favourite of all times.  The book is billingual and the illustrator is Ferris Cook.  {Click on the images to see them bigger}

Tengo un libro lindisimo llamado Odas a los Opuestos, de Pablo Neruda.  La encuadernacion es muy buena y las ilustraciones son excepcionales, dibujos en lapiz, tan simples y tan lindos!  Te queria mostrar algunos, ojala que te inspiren como me inspiran a mi.  Por supuesto, la poesia es maravillosa, Neruda es mi poeta favorito.  El libro es bilingue y el ilustrador es Ferris Cook.  {Hace click sobre la imagen para verla mas grande}

Little Corners/Rinconcitos

I covered some light switch plates a while ago and thought it would be fun to photograph them in their environments.  Here is where they 'live':  Fiona's room, by the front door, my bedroom, living room.  Love is in the details, right?  More Corners of my Home here.

Forre las placas de las llaves de luz hace un tiempito y me parecio interesante fotografiarlas en sus "ambientes".  Estos son los lugares donde viven:  cuarto de Fiona, al lado de la puerta de entrada, mi dormitorio y el living.  El amor existe en los detalles, no?  Mas Ricones de mi Casa aca.

More finds and more fashion/Mas cosas antiguas y mas moda

More new/old things, an old metal box {Dave says that I have enough, but I can't resist them and they are great for storage, right?}, a pair of earrings, a melamine bowl and dish for Fiona, a painted window, and old cards.

Mas cosas nuevas/viejas, una caja de metal {Dave dice que tengo suficientes cajas, pero no puedo resistirlas, ademas son barbaras para guardar cosas, no?}, un par de aros, un bowl y plato melamine para Fiona, una ventana pintada y tarjetas antiguas.

Here is a close up of the earrings {click to enlage}, I love them and I can't wait to use them on something {I don't know what yet}.

Aca estan los aros de cerca {hace click para ver la foto mas grande}, me encantan y no veo la hora de usarlos en algo, aunque todavia no se que.

And I just found out that this week is New York fashion week, what a coincidence!  {my moodboard this week is about fashion}.  This is my favourite of the shows today.

Y esta semana es la semana de la moda en Nueva York.  Que coincidencia!  {mi moodboard esta semana es sobre moda}.  Este es mi disen~ador favorito de los que mostraron hoy.

Mood Board No.7

This week:  Fashion.  I am doing the same with my fashion magazines as with the home decor ones.  Some of these I would wear, some are inspirational for different projects and some I just like.

Esta semana:  moda.  Estoy haciendo lo mismo con mis revistas de moda que  con las revistas de decoracion de interiores.  Algunas de estas cosas me gustan para usarlas, otras son inspiracion para distintos proyectos y otras simplemente me gustan.
Como siempre, espero que tu semana este llena de inspiracion!

Corners of my home: workspace/Rincones de mi casa: taller

This is my work space, well, it is mostly my storage because it is the closet in Fiona's room {we only have two bedrooms}, when she is awake I don't get much done and when she is asleep I can't make noises there.  So the work happens in the dining room. 
We bought the whole system {shelves, drawers, etc.}, the table and the curtains at Ikea and it works really well. 
It also serves as guest closet, I fold down the table, move the chair and voila!
When the space is messy and don't want people to see it I just close the curtains.  What you see on the right is a chest of drawers that also serves as changing table {everything multitasks in this house}.

Este es mi 'taller', bueno, es donde guardo mis cosas, porque es el closet del cuarto de Fiona {tenemos solamente dos dormitorios} y cuando esta despierta no puedo hacer mucho y cuando esta dormida no puedo hacer ruido.  Asique trabajo en el comedor.
Este lugar tambien sirve como closet para huespedes, bajo la mesa plegadiza, saco la silla y voila!
Si la mesa esta desordenada y no quiero que las visitas la vean, cierro las cortinas y listo.  Lo que ves a la derecha de la foto es una comoda que tambien sirve de cambiador {todo tiene muchas funciones en esta casa}.

Por supuesto, suen~o con un espacio asi, con colores suaves y cajas, canastas y otras cosas vintage.  Estas paginas son de la ultima revista Country Living.

And this is from my space again, I embroidered the curtain ties and I liked the embroidery so much that I did something very similar in my bitty booties.

Y este es mi espacio de nuevo, borde los lazos para atar la cortina y me gusto tanto el motivo que hice algo muy similar en las botitas de bebe.

Influence of the moodboard 2/La influencia del moodboard 2

Last week I went thrifting and antiquing, with the same state of mind of the moodboard.  There aren't many good thrft stores and antique stores in this town, and the ones that are good are so expensive.  I still managed to find some things:  an old record storage box, a tool box to store my supplies in, books, a hat {for the millinery flowers}, some jewlery and a typewriter with its case and manual.  I also found a lamp {that I fell in love with} for the bed in Fiona's room.  I am sure I wouldn't win the $99 challenge, but the damage was small.
My parents used to go antiquing very often and I remember complaining about it, it was boring and I didn't like the smell... I wonder if Fiona is going to do the same.

La semana pasada fui de compras a negocios de segunda mano y a casas de antiguedades, con la inspiracion del moodboard.  No hay muchos negocios buenos de ese estilo donde vivo y los que son buenos son carisimos.  Pero igual encontre algunas cositas: una caja para guardar discos antiguos, una caja para herramientas donde guardo algunas de las cosas que uso para los collages, libros, un sombrero {para usar las flores}, algunas joyas y una maquina de escribir con su caja y su manual.  Tambien encontre una lampara para la cama del cuarto de Fiona, de la que me enamore.  Seguro que no ganaria el desafio de los $99, pero el dan~o monetario no fue muy grande.
Mis padres iban a casas de antiguedades muy seguido, me acuerdo que yo protestaba porque era aburrido y no me gustaba el olor...me pregunto si Fiona hara lo mismo.
