so, today was the last day of class in fiona's school, so i made her teacher a little gift from us. i painted this little dish that she can use to put a tea bag from her cup, or rings and earings at the end of the day. it is my first time attempting painting on ceramics, and i am hooked! i love it.
hoy fue el último día de clases en el cole de fiona y todos los alumnitos llevaron un regalo de navidad para la maestra. yo pinté este platito de cerámica que ella puede usar para poner saquitos de te o aros y anillos, o lo que se le ocurra. es la primera vez que pinto sobre porcelana y me encantó! pienso volver a hacerlo muchas veces.
and dave and i were in charge of making the gift from the whole class too. this was so much fun. we decided to make a clock. it was a true collaboration between dave and i, though he did most of the "labor". we used a cake pan, painted it with chalkboard paint, and added a little shape that each of the kids painted next to the numbers and one on the second hand (there are 13 kids in her class) that turns around and around all day. we also painted the clock hands and wrote the numbers with chalk and drew the heart. we are really happy with how it turned out and it looked like the teacher really liked it too.
dave y yo estuvimos a cargo del regalo para la maestra de fiona de parte de toda la clase. fue muy divertido. decidimos hacerle un reloj. fue una verdadera colaboración entre dave y yo, aunque él hizo casi todo el trabajo manual. usamos una fuente para tortas, la pintamos con pintura de pizarrón, le pegamos esas formitas que cada uno de los chicos pintaron al lado de cada número y, como son 13, agregamos una en la aguja del segundero, que da vueltas y vueltas todo el día. también pintamos las agujas y escribimos los números y dibujamos el corazón con tiza. nos gustó mucho como quedó y me parece que a la maestra también le gustó.
we love fiona's teacher, she is patient, she listens and she cares about each child, she deserves this and much more.
nosotros la queremos mucho a la maestra de fiona, tiene una paciencia casi infinita, sabe escuchar y se preocupa por cada uno de los chicos. por todas esas razones pensamos que se merece esto y mucho más.
