here are the gifts we gave her.  i used brown paper, some of my washi tapes and a pompom i made.  i hope this inspire some of you for your christmas wrapping!

on sunday we decided to paint the patio chairs.  we started with these colours:

tea ritual

my little chamomile plant has been blooming.

mi plantita de manzanilla está floreciendo.

fiona and i have been picking the flowers and making our own tea.

fiona y yo le cortamos las florcitas e hicimos té.

we both love the ritual, and our little plant has been very generous, so we enjoyed many cups so far.

a las dos nos encanta el ritual del té y nuestra plantita es muy generosa con sus flores, asique ya preparamos y disfrutamos varias tazas.

now i have to figure out how to make pepermint tea.  have you ever made your own?

diy: volcano!

hi!  fiona and i made a volcano this weekend.  i had already seen this at fiona's school, the kids go crazy when the volcano 'erupts'!.  so last week i found a book of activities at the thrift store with the explanation for the experiment and it reminded both of us of how much fun it is.  here are some photos and a diy for you:

hola!  fiona y yo hicimos un volcán este fin de semana.  yo ya había visto este experimento en el cole de fiona (a los chicos les encanta cuando el volcán 'erupciona'!).  la semana pasada encontré un libro de actividades para chicos en el negocio de segunda mano que traía las explicaciones para este experimento y nos hizo acordar lo divertido que es.  acá van algunas fotos y las instrucciones:

materials:

• jar
• measuring cup
• baking soda
• vinegar
• detergent
• food coloring
• water
• sand, mud or clay

materiales

• frasco
• recipiente para medir
• bicarbonato de sodio
• vinagre
• detergente
  
• colorante de comida
• agua
• arena, tierra o arcilla

make a mountain (with sand, mud or clay), put your jar on top and keep building it around it.

hacé una montaña (con arena, tierra o arcilla), poné el frasco arriba y seguí armando la montaña alrededor del frasco.

when the volcano is ready, put three or four small spoonfuls of baking soda in the jar.

cuando el volcán este listo, poné tres o cuatro cucharaditas de bicarbonato de sodio en el frasco.

mix together one half cup of water, one fourth of a cup of detergent, a fourth of a cup of vinegar and some food coloring.  pour the mixture into the jar and..

mezclá una taza de agua con un cuarto de taza de detergente, un cuarto de taza de vinagre y el colorante.  volcá la mezcla en el frasco y...

lava starts pouring out of the volcano!

el volcán empieza a erupcionar!  con lava y todo!

late

i am obviously super late in my gift making.  november and december are crazy months, birthdays (both fiona's and dave's), thanksgiving, craft fairs, winter break, parties...i have to start in september next year.

estoy super atrasada con lo regalos de navidad, es obvio.  noviembre y diciembre son meses de locura, con cumpleaños (de fiona y dave), día de acción de gracias, ferias, vacaciones de invierno, fiestas...tengo que empezar en septiembre el año que viene.

this is a book i am working on for my mum, all about fiona, her only grandkid, i think she will like it.  i covered it with vintage ribbon.

este es un librito que empecé para mi mamá, obviamente va a estar lleno de fotos de fiona, su única nieta, creo que le va a gustar.  lo cubrí con cintas vintage.

and i made a few necklaces, i am trying to decide which one to send to my sister.

hice varios collares, estoy decidiendo cual mandarle a mi hermana.

fiona and i have been making these little beauties after seeing this article in martha stewart.  they are fast to make and oh so cute!  they would be great as favors for a baby shower, bridal shower or any other party.

fiona y yo hicimos estas preciosuras siguiento las intrucciones de martha stewart.  son rápidas para hacer y tan lindas!  me parece que serían buenísimas como souvenir de fiestas.

i was thinking of making them as bows to decorate the christmas gifts.  what do you think?

of course i had to experiment and come up with my own version of them.

fiona really wanted me to dress up yesterday, so i decide to be 'mother nature'.  i made this headband with things i already had right before we left trick or treating.  a green shirt, brown tights or pants and voilà!

fiona me pidió un montón de veces que me disfrace para halloween, asique ayer decidí ser la 'madre naturaleza'.  hice esta vincha con todas cosas que tenía en casa justo antes de irnos a buscar dulces con unos amigos.  una remera verde, pantalones o calzas chocolate y voilà!
