2 tutorials

hi!  here i am, i have been busy with nostalgia resources and we also moved, i will show pictures of the house once is not a mess of boxes.  but i have been able to do two tutorials:

this one if for place cards (or any other cards).  you can see it here

este tutorial es de tarjetas para que los invitados de una reunión o fiesta encuentren sus lugares en las mesas (pero se puede usara para otro tipo de evento, cumpleaños, etc).  lo podés ver aca.

 

and this one is for making ring pillows (but could be for any other pillow too!  tooth pillow anyone?).  you can see it here.

este segundo tutorial es para hacer almohadoncitos para los anillos en un casamiento, pero se puede usara para hacer cualquier tipo de almohadón. lo podés ver acá.

adventures in thrifting

hi!  here i am, obviously during the summer my posts will be sporadic, but i will be here anyway.  my class is over, i passed and i am happy, though i am going to miss playing with flowers every week.

hola!  aca estoy, como habrán visto, durante el verano mis posts van a ser más esporádicos, pero siempre estoy.  se terminó mi clase, la pasé y estoy contenta, pero voy a extrañar poder jugar con las flores todas las semanas.

here are some of the beautiful things i saw during my 'tresure hunting' adventures:

estas son algunas de las cosas lindas que ví durante mis aventuras en las casas de antigüedades:

i fell in love with this little chair, but the price was high and it wasn't in the budget (very smaaaaalll budget).  the quilted cushion was so perfect.  i went back a few weeks later and it was gone.  heartbreak.

me enamoré de esta sillita, pero era un poco cara y no entraba en el presupuesto (siempre suuuuper ajustado).  el almohadoncito era perfecto también.  volví un par de semanas después y ya no estaba.  corazón roto.

i did get these little ones, the floral pattern is perfect perfection.  also, i got the paper towel, wax paper, foil paper holder in the back.

estos tres chiquititos se vinieron conmigo a casa, el estampado es la perfecta perfección.  también vino conmigo el porta toalla de papel de atrás.

these, my friends, are the doors of my dreams.  so super out of my budget, but a girl can dream, no?  from morocco and in the perfect shade of acqua.

estas, mis amigas, son las puertas de mis sueños.  tan fuera de mi presupuesto, pero una puede soñar, no? son de marruecos y el color no puede ser mas exquisito.

another heartbreaker.  this cart was fiona's size, so cute!

my new (to me) shoes!  those little flowers make me happy, though nobody knows they are there but me.  now i want to go to one of those parties where they make you take your shoes off at the door, just to share the beauty.

estos son mis zapatos nuevos (nuevos para mi)!  esas florcitas me hacen felíz, aunque nadie sabe que están ahi, solamente yo.  ahora quiero ir a una de esas fiestas donde te hacen sacar los zapatos antes de entrar para compartir la belleza que esconden mis sandalias.

hi!  hope you had a wonderful weekend.  i thought i would start the week by showing you some of the second hand treasures i found in the last months.

hola!  espero que hayas pasado un fin de semana muy lindo.  me pareció que sería bueno empezar la semana mostrando algunos de los tesoros de segunda mano que encontré en los últimos meses.

i fell in love with this necklace, with a round neck sweater, or even a t-shirt, this could look so nice.

me enamoré de este collar, con un sweater de cuello redondo, o hasta con una remera, queda tan lindo.

this needlepoint is so pretty!  i think i will make a pillow with it.

and these birdies are made completely of french knots, can you believe that?.  i am planning on changing the mat and the frame.

collection

my collection of vintage pins is growing and they were scattered in boxes and on my nightsand, so i hang some vintage ribbon and voilà, now they are all together and i can see them every day.

mi colección de prendedores vintage está creciendo, pero estaban repartidos en cajas y en mi mesa de luz, asique colgué una cinta antigua y voilà, ahora estan todos juntos y los puedo very todos los dias.

some things i found in my 'trasure hunts' for easter:

algunas cosas que encontré en mis 'búsquedas de tesoros' para pascuas:

sweet little bunny baskets from the thrift store.  the beautiful wrapping paper is also from a thrift store.

canastitas en forma de conejo.  el papel de regalo tan lindo también lo encontré en una casa de cosas usadas.

with vintage tin eggs i found a couple of years ago. 

con huevitos de pascuas de metal que encontré hace un par de años.

and these little vintage japanese birds i got for christmas, but i think they look great for easter too.

our weekend

hi!  we had a great weekend.  saturday morning we took fiona to ballet class and then had lunch at our now favourite hole in the wall restaurant, i think the fortunes are for sure trying to tell dave and i something: 

hola!  que lindo fin de semana que pasamos!  el sábado a la mañana la llevamos a fiona a su clase de danzas y después almorzamos en nuestro restaurant preferido, creo que las 'fortunas' de las galletitas nos están tratando de decir algo a dave y a mi:

among all of that, i still managed to find these two amazing hand embroidered mexican dresses for fiona and me.

entre todo eso, igual pude encontrar estos dos vestidos mexicanos bordados a mano para fiona y para mi.  no son lindísimos?

new (to me)

i found these little cups the other day at the thrift store, they are so cute!  does anybody know what they are?  i love them no matter what, but would like to know what era they are from and if they were part of a bigger collection.

encontré estas tacitas en el negocio de cosas usadas el otro día, son tan lindas!  alguien sabe qué son?  me encantan de cualquier manera, pero me gustaría saber de que era son y si son parte de una colección mas grande.

and my picture crazy girl had to get her photo taken with her crazy morning hair.

y mi chiquita que está un poco obsesionada con las fotos, tuvo que sacarse una con los pelos revueltos de la mañana.

and i also found this amazing set in great condition, love the blue!

i hope you are having a good wednesday.  i have to admit that today has been challenging.  staying at home with your child is incredibly rewarding sometimes and sometimes it can be extremely hard.  today i am looking forward to school starting again.  don't get me wrong, i love her more than anything and i feel like a bad mother saying that but those few hours of time in the morning make such a difference to me.  i read and hear and know so many mothers that have two or more kids, they homeschool, they make stuff, always cook dinner (with organic ingredients, of course). i admire these women and i wonder if i am deffective somehow.  does this ever happen to you?  sorry for venting, tomorrow will be a better day.

espero que estes pasando un buen miércoles.  tengo que admitir que hoy es un día difícil.  quedarse en casa con los chicos te da tantas satisfacciones a veces y a veces es increíblemente difícil.  hoy no veo la hora que empicen las clases de nuevo.  me siento como una mala madre diciendo esto, pero esas horas a la mañana hacen una gran diferencia para mi.  leo y conozco otras madres que tienen dos o más hijos, los educan en casa, hacen manualidades, siempre cocinan (con todos ingredientes orgánicos, por supuesto).  admiro a esas madres y me pregunto si salí mal de fábrica.  te pasa alguna vez?  perdón por las confesiones, mañana será un día mejor.

let me tell you a secret:  i dream of having a little store one day, where you can come and get some tea and pastries and it is full of handmade things, some evenings we would have acoustic, intimate concerts, others we would have talks and classes.  i would have a space in the back to create.  i dream of decorating the little store and displaying all the beautiful handmade things.  there would be old furniture re-painted and brought to new life.  none of the chairs would match.  every table would have a little succulent plant on it...

te cuento un secreto:  sueño con tener mi propio negocio algún día, un espacio no muy grande donde se pueda tomar un té y comer cosas ricas y que esté lleno de cosas hechas a mano.  algunos dias tendríamos conciertos íntimos y acústicos, otros charlas y clases.  atrás del negocio yo tendría un espacio para crear.  sueño con decorarlo y acomodar todas las cosas lindísimas hechas a mano.  en el negocio todos los muebles son de segunda mano, los pintaría y les daría una nueva vida.  ninguna de las sillas son iguales y cada mesa tendría su propia plantita...

that's why i love setting up for the fairs i do, for a few hours i have my own little store.  this one was this last saturday, i was lucky to be in the sun.

es por eso que me encanta preparar mi espacio en cada feria que hago, es como si tuviera mi propio negocito por unas horas.  estas fotos son del sábado, tuve suerte y me tocó estar en el sol.

i found this metal rack on that little trip we took for my birthday and i love it.

a esta estantería de metal la encontré cuando hicimos este viajecito para mi cumpleaños.  me encanta.

sorry for my absence this week, fiona is on summer vacation, and i am trying to be present for her.  fiona runs around the house with all the energy she holds in her little body, she jumps, does cart wheels, rolls, sometimes she sings, sometimes she dances and she is almost always talking (unless i ask her a specific question and her answer is generally "i don't know").  she tells me things about school, her friends, tv shows and life in general.  sometimes my mind is far away with thoughts, sometimes i am immersed on a blog, book or an image on the computer, sometimes i am cleaning the house, and sometimes i want quiet...but i try, i try to be here for her and i hope she feels it.  being her mother is still (and i suspect will always be) the biggest lesson in my life.

perdón por mi ausencia esta semana, fiona está de vacaciones y yo estoy tratando de estar presente para ella.  fiona corre por la casa con toda la energía que acumula en su cuerpito, salta, hace piruetas, rueda por el suelo, a veces canta, a veces baila, casi siempre esta hablando (a no ser que le pregunte algo específico, en cuyo caso la respuesta es casi siempre "no me acuerdo") .  me cuenta cosas del colegio, de sus amigos, de algún programa de la tele o una película, de la vida en general.  a veces estoy ausente, pensando cosas, a veces estoy concentrada en algo que estoy leyendo o en una imágen en la computadora, a veces estoy limpiando y, a veces mi mente me pide silencio...pero trato, trato de volver a ese momento, de escucharla, de demostrarle que estoy.  quiero que sienta que hago lo mejor que puedo.  ser madre sigue siendo la lección de mi vida, nunca dejo de aprender.
